Our Story
Growing up our door was always open and typically you would find an extra friend or two at dinner every night.
Mom would never hesitate when we asked if someone could come for dinner. She ALWAYS had enough food to feed whomever showed up. Dad ended dinner prayer with, “And thank you for all of our family and friends” for that reason before every meal.
Fort 88 stems from ideas and inspiration from all our favorite people. Solid business is not built by one person but a culmination of people with different strengths, and I picked the very best. Our food is sourced locally and seasonally as we believe the richest flavor comes from the fields and gardens of people that are passionate about what they do. Picked at the peak of each season, our ever changing menu will ensure your food is never bland, never dull, and always perfectly prepared.
The name of the restaurant was based on the concept that a fort is place to retreat. This is where you rest, recharge, and stock up on supplies. Our atmosphere is a safe space where you can take your mind off what is going on outside of our doors. The 88 in our name comes from Wyandot County being the 88th country in Ohio. Please come and enjoy our retreat in the best county in the state. We can’t wait to have you.
At Fort 88, the door is always open, there is always enough food and you will always be welcomed as family.

Meet Kelsey, the creative mind behind Fort 88.
Kelsey was born and raised right in Upper Sandusky with a family deeply embedded in the community. She was a 2007 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School before going to Wilmington College to study Business & Marketing. During that time she began working with food at her family’s catering company which sparked a new passion. She has spent her entire professional career in the restaurant industry focusing on hospitality and beverage marketing. The 2020 pandemic presented an opportunity to pursue her long time dream of owning her own restaurant… and Fort 88 was born.
